Bob Blackmoore's Bio

Bob Blackmoore, artist, photographer, promoter, producer & writer, Transplanted from the Midwest to California via Colorado in the 60s, Bob B, as he signs his work, started his artistic career at the University of Colorado he helped to produce and promote shows of all types from interactive stage productions Organum,

as well as lectures by Timothy Leary, Alan Ginsburg & Buckminster Fuller. Not to mention the Music of that period John Mayall, Jimi Hendrix, The Dead and many others. Working with Richard Lowenberg in Visual Arts the team created animations and graphics that went into the multi media light show which accompanied most of the productions. In the early 60's Laguna Beach, a haven for surfing and for all types of artists, confirmed Bob B's desire to become a professional artist. During Bob B's stay in the Haight Ashbury he met many avant garde artists and musicians. His association with Mouse and Kelley, Victor Moscoso, Pat Ryan and Dave Sheridan brought about the group called the ARTISTA.

That was made up of famous poster and pop culture artists aka the Concrete Foundation out of The Peanut Gallery influenced Bob B's style. He had one of his poems, Dante's Hotel, published by the National Library of Poetry. The poem chronicles Bob's observations of San Francisco's North Beach in the early 70s.
For one summer in the 70's Bob.B. was the booking agent and general manager for a group of investors who called their venture The Citadel. Which would eventually be called Pepperland. during that time he produced shows there with acts like the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Frank Zappa & the Mothers of Invention, Pink Floyd etc.

The next venture in Bob B's career was general manager of the rehearsal studio and recording complex in San Rafael called Hun Sound,

where he produced music videos, recordings, and a weekly hour long live radio shows on KTIM with artists like Norton Buffalo, George Winston, Tom Johnston and Commander Cody. Artists using the facilities included Huey Lewis and the News, Pablo Cruise, Sammy Hagar, Grateful Dead, Tony Beverly and Maze, Jefferson Starship, Steve Miller, Van Morrison, Mettallica, Todd Rundgren, Delaney Bramlett to name a few. Some of the recordings were the basic recording tracks for the Double Platinum album "Worlds Away" by Pablo Cruise. As well as Renting rehearsal space in 1 of 8 rehearsal rooms or renting equipment and crew for club to coliseum sized sound re-enforcement.

During this time together with Dennis Erokan of BAM magazine we helped produced the first few annual Bay Area Music Awards.

Produced records and demo tapes for groups like Attitude with members Michael Carabello and David Brown original members of Santana, and Michael Sasaki of Cold Blood and others.

Worked as a freelance darkroom technician for a Global Ad Agency with offices in London LA Sausalito called Austin Knight Advertising.

Artist in residence Nakamine Studios encompassing all aspects of silk screen printing, type setting, computer design, etc.

Helped Chet Helms, Boots Houston, Grant Jacobs and Bobby Palermo with the grand opening of the Family Dog then called Maritime Hall in San Francisco. With Gregg Allman, Iron Butterfly and Zero playing at the Grand Opening.
